Wildeck Castle today
The present appearance of the castle is characterized by buildings of several epochs. The visitor first notices the bergfried, called "Dicker Heinrich" – probably the oldest building in Zchopau – in Romanesque style.
After the extensive restoration of recent years, Wildeck Castle is now back to its former glory.A large number of rooms, such as the Blau-Weiße Stube, the Rote Saal and the Grüne Saal, could be re-opened for visitors and guests to visit and inspire in Renaissance style.
Learn a lot about the history of the building during a guided tour, see for yourself through a view from the windows of the halls or from the peaks of the old bergfried "Dicker Heinrich" from the exposed location of the castle on a rock high above the Zschopau. The baroque garden and fully restored castle tour with its fragrant rose plants, fruit trees, sculptures and idyllic squares invite you to linger.
